I have so many electric guitar players I was influenced by growing up and some, still today. I’ve decided to write some short posts highlighting some of them.
A teacher named Tracy Swider in my first months taking guitar from him (1986-87?) exposed me to Tony MacAlpine. He was very technical and fast, but very melodic at times. He also played the piano on ‘Edge of Insanity’ which I thought was awesome. I followed Tony’s career and various projects and remember getting my VHS cover signed at the ol’ Zepher club in SLC.
