I'm transcribing a lot of non-guitar music for the electric guitar right now. I just published a book of violin excerpts and am doing another couple of instruments for upcoming books. What are apparent are the key differences in the phrasing, use of ornamentation and how notes are played such as the use of staccato. These nuances are what I find most intriguing and fun for transference to the guitar. How a melodic line in a Clarinet caprice is played versus a Violin caprice like Paganini are quite different. Understanding and making note of these differences and then transcribing them onto the guitar makes you a better musician and a better guitarist. I would highly recommend spending time in the minds and playing of other non-guitar instruments and discovering new elements you can incorporate into your playing.
